Crete is one of the most popular destination wedding locations in Europe, and for good reason: more than 300 days of sunshine a year, Venetian harbours, cliff-top chapels, olive-grove estates and beaches that turn gold at sunset. If you are planning your wedding in Crete from abroad, choosing a local wedding photographer is one of the decisions that will matter most — long after the flowers have wilted, the photographs are what remain.

Why hire a local Crete wedding photographer instead of flying one in?

Many couples consider bringing a photographer from home. It can work, but a photographer based in Crete offers three things a visitor cannot. First, knowledge of the light: Cretan summer light is intense and the best hours for portraits are early morning and the last hour before sunset — a local knows exactly where the shade falls at 6 pm in Elounda or Agia Pelagia. Second, knowledge of the locations: the hidden cove twenty minutes from your venue, the old stone alley in Heraklion or Rethymno that photographs beautifully, the viewpoint above the village. Third, no travel and accommodation costs added to your bill.

The most photogenic wedding locations in Crete

Heraklion and the surrounding area. The island’s capital is the arrival point for most couples, and within 30-40 minutes you have beach venues in Agia Pelagia and Hersonissos, mountain villages like Archanes with vineyards and stone architecture, and the Minoan palace of Knossos for something truly unique.

Elounda and Agios Nikolaos. The luxury-resort coast of eastern Crete: private villas, five-star hotels with sea-view terraces, and the lagoon of Elounda for sunset portraits.

Rethymno and Chania. Two of the most beautiful old towns in Greece, with Venetian lighthouses, narrow lanes and harbourside restaurants — perfect for a relaxed, romantic photo walk after the ceremony.

Olive-grove estates and wineries. Increasingly popular for couples who want a rustic, authentic Cretan setting with long tables under the trees.

What a full-day wedding coverage in Crete looks like

A typical destination wedding day starts with getting-ready photographs at the villa or hotel — details, the dress, the rings, the moments with parents and friends. Then the ceremony, whether in a whitewashed chapel, on the beach or at the venue. After the ceremony we take the couple away for 45-60 minutes of portraits during golden hour, then return for the reception: the entrance, the first dance, the speeches, the Cretan music and, very often, the traditional dancing that goes on late into the night.

Because we deliver the complete set of edited photographs rather than a limited number, couples receive several hundred final images from a full day, in a private online gallery in high resolution, ready to download, print and share.

Photography and video together

We offer combined photography and video packages, including drone footage — which in Crete is spectacular: the cliffs, the turquoise water, the venue seen from above. Working with one team for both means a single point of contact, consistent style, and no coordination problems on the day.

Pricing and how to book from abroad

Wedding photography packages start from €600 (excluding VAT) and depend on the hours of coverage, the number of locations and whether you add video and drone. Most couples book 8-12 months ahead for summer dates (June to September), as the best weekends fill up quickly. Booking is simple: send us your date and venue, we reply with a detailed proposal within 24 hours, and a video call answers any questions before you decide.

Edited photographs are usually delivered within 30-40 days after the wedding, in a private high-resolution online gallery, ready to download and print — the complete set of selected and edited images, without watermark, at full resolution and in unlimited number. Prints from 10×15 cm up to A2 are available from our studio.
